DESCRIPTION
A textual and theological examination of the Epistle to the Hebrews. This course will explore the nature of the epistle as a sermon, a “word of exhortation,” (13:22), its argument shaped by the citation, exposition, and application of Scripture. The argument will be followed in its successive steps, with careful attention paid to both method and substance. Special attention will be paid to the history of the interpretation of this book and to its contributions to Christology, to redemptive history, and to the definition of saving faith.
