About Us
Walnut Creek PCA is a small church in suburban Columbus, Ohio. We have in recent years planted a daughter church in a neighboring suburb and transitioned to a new senior pastor as our founding pastor and his wife have begun a new ministry focused on caring for ministry leaders. Now, we are expectantly looking to the next season of how God will lead us into the mission of wholeheartedly loving Jesus and others, and we are seeking a new team member for this mission.
Overview of Position
The Assistant Pastor for Youth and Outreach is a full-time staff member and a vital partner in ministry with the senior pastor, elders, and other staff members of Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church. He is primarily responsible for ministry to students (6th through 12th grade), outreach opportunities for WCPC, and sharing pastoral ministry with the session. We are also open to hiring at the director level with a candidate who is in process towards a seminary degree and ordination in the PCA.
Responsibilities
Youth
Lead a youth ministry team that will develop and implement a ministry plan for students (including Sunday school class, regular group meeting, community building activities, one-to-one relationships, and service opportunities). Build shepherding relationships with students and their families. Build gathering relationships with students and families external to church community.
Outreach
Lead a service and outreach ministry team that will develop and implement outreach opportunities for Walnut Creek. Assess the gifts and resources of the congregation, and help shepherd those gifts and resources towards external opportunities for Gospel witness and service in the surrounding area. Build strategic partnerships with community service organizations and other churches.
Other Pastoral
Partner with the elders and other staff members in overall pastoral responsibilities with opportunities for worship leading, preaching, teaching, administration of the sacraments, pastoral care, and counseling.
Salary: $60K-$89K
Requirements
- Ordained or “ordain-able” in the PCA. This should include a completed M.Div or willingness to pursue a seminary degree.
- Love for Jesus and his church.
- Desire and ability to develop new ministries.
- A commitment to relational ministry.
- Gifts and personality that complement other members of the leadership team.
- Experience in student ministry.
- Bonus points for musical abilities to help with worship leadership!
