COMMUNITY LIFE COORDINATOR
SUMMARY: Provide essential administrative, logistical, and relational support and leadership to the church community so as to enable the people and mission of Grace Meridian Hill to flourish.
I. SUNDAY OPERATIONS (40%, 16 hrs)
Supervision of Sunday Logistics (5 hrs)
- Supervise Sunday hospitality teams (Set Up, Welcome, Communion, etc.)
- Lead Sunday morning “huddles” of volunteers for encouragement, review of game-plan, vision, equipping
- Lock/Unlock doors and storage closets / turn on lights, etc.
- Collaborate with Music Team and Children’s Ministry as needed
Sunday Volunteer Management & Scheduling (4 hrs)
- Schedule Sunday member-volunteers (using CCB)
- Send reminders, communication, and encouragement to Sunday volunteers
Bulletins & Service Planning (5 hrs)
- Format/print Sunday bulletins and leading notes for Sunday services (weekly)
- Create and compile Sunday slides (liturgy, songs, announcements)
- Create forms, inserts, fliers, and images (as needed)
- Plan and coordinate weekly Sunday announcements (written, verbal)
- Process Sunday inquiries (Connect form submissions, event sign-ups, etc.)
- Upload sermon audio to website, Soundcloud, etc.
Ministry Team Coordination (2 hrs)
- Equip teams to serve; provide clear weekly direction and troubleshooting (huddles)
- Create and communicate team job descriptions/responsibilities; recruit as needed
II. COMMUNICATIONS (20%, 8 hrs)
- Serve as “front face” of the church and primary contact person for congregation
- Manage website, social media, church calendar
- Plan and distribute weekly newsletter of community announcements
- Develop creative, electronic, and relational ways of communicating vision/information to members
III. MEMBER CARE & VISITOR HOSPITALITY (15%, 6 hrs)
- Welcome visitors/inquirers; direct newcomers to appropriate ministries and people (community hub)
- Provide logistical support for New Member process (questionnaires, scheduling interviews)
- Facilitate member prayer requests
- Support triage/assignment of member needs to Diaconate/Shepherding Team
- Support basic Life Group logistics as needed (in collaboration with Associate Pastor)
IV. EVENT COORDINATION & GENERAL ADMINISTRATION (15%, 6 hrs)
- Administrate logistics for events, classes, etc. (e.g., registration, advertising, promotion)
- Serve as liaison to Grace Network for communication and coordinator of shared events/initiatives
- Manage CCB database of member/visitor info; prepare presbytery member data reports (annual)
- Includes (but not limited to) annual events such as: Leadership Retreat, Fall Retreat, Advent Services, Holy Week services, Membership Seminar, Church Picnic, Network Joint Worship/Annual Meeting
V. ASSISTANT TO THE LEAD PASTOR (10%, 4 hrs)
- Manage Lead Pastor’s calendar and schedule appointments/meetings
- Help “triage” various ministry requests/needs
Salary: $30K-$59K
Requirements
Job Requirements
- Proven administrative experience/skills; highly organized, detail-oriented, ability to “multi-task”
- Personable demeanor and relational style; ability to lead and direct adult members
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities; basic graphic design skills a plus
- Experience working as an administrator or executive assistant and in local church ministry a plus
- Pro-active problem-solver, able to work with only broad supervision
- Able to adapt quickly within a dynamic (new/changing church) environment
- Embraces, and able to articulate, Grace Meridian Hill’s vision/mission
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint; familiarity with Pages or InDesign a plus; able to be trained in CCB
- High standards of professionalism and personal integrity
- Able to become a worshipping member of our community and fulfill certain responsibilities on Sunday mornings as part of regular work hours (may miss up to 4 Sunday worship services per year)
- Able to spend fixed hours in Church Office midweek (tbd)
