Description
Resurrection Community Church, a 3-year-old PCA church plant in Virginia Beach, has a great 10-week paid summer internship opportunity for young adults who love Jesus, kids, and sports, and have serious interest in future vocational ministry. The core of this internship is to be a “head counselor” in our SB2W summer sports camp program, leading the college and high school counselor team in running the day-to-day program at different church sites through the summer. In addition to the general ministry experience and personal growth and spiritual growth from summer camp, this internship can provide experience and training in church planting, evangelism, children’s ministry, student ministry, general pastoral ministry, and complex ministry programs. Jimmy Brock and Alejandro Romero, the pastoral staff of Resurrection and the senior camp leadership, have a wide range of experience in different ministry areas, and you will also have the opportunity to connect with and learn from a wide variety of pastoral and ministry leaders at Resurrection and other churches that host the camp. While the core of the summer work is being a head counselor, the remaining details of the internship will be customized to fit the needs of each intern. Requirements
· Vibrant personal relationship with Jesus
· Love for children and teens, both inside and outside the church
· High energy and enthusiastic presence and personality
· Able to graciously direct and re-direct both campers and staff to properly participate in the camp program
· Previous experience with children and students is a must, and specific sports camp experience is a strong plus
· Able to easily learn and internalize the details of the SB2W camp program
· Clear interest in future vocational ministry in either church or parachurch
· College grad or age 21+ with solid work experience
How to Apply
Internship lasts June 5-Aug 7 and is paid $5000
· Week of June 5: Preparation, getting to know Jimmy & Alejandro, learning your role
· Week of June 12: Senior Counselor orientation
· June 19-Aug 4: Camp weeks, leading the team & camp program each day, plus more!
· Week of Aug 7: Final reflection, clean-up, and wrap-up
· Camp days are generally 8 AM – 5 PM, plus evening and weekend social, learning, and ministry opportunities. It’s an intense summer, but we’ll also make sure you get rest!
Housing is provided with different host families throughout the summer (as the camp moves from church to church)
