Job Title: Community Life Intern
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Work Hours: Part-time, 20 hours per week
Job Summary: The Community Life Intern assists with all programs related to community formation at Redeemer Downtown. The intern will oversee community groups, support group leaders, and participate in the planning and execution of community-building events such as church-wide retreats and socials. They will also coordinate local gatherings and assess the needs of the community, with an emphasis on how to connect with and serve young adults. They will provide creative and innovative solutions and ideas for expanding or enhancing congregant's participation in community life. This position provides opportunities for professional development in pastoral care and formation and other areas of ministry.
Creating Connection
- Oversee and execute church-wide socials
- Oversee and execute ‘Local Gatherings’
- Assist in the planning and execution of a church-wide retreat and a leaders retreat
- Assist in the coordination and execution of community group trainings and events
- Maintain visible and hospitable presence at before, during, and after worship services and at community life events
- Participate in the regular life of Redeemer DT through worship, community group, social engagement, classes, membership, etc.
Cultivating Community
- Assisting in the oversight and formation of Community Groups, leaders and congregants
- Assist and teach classes and trainings
- Edit and write community group discussion guides
- Assist in the planning and execution of other Community Life events (e.g. Habit Workshops, Spiritual Formation Classes)
- Assist in managing the community group database and producing reports as requested
- Provide technical support to community group leaders
- Attend weekly meetings for overall growth and strengthening of community life
- Lead a weekly Community Group
Providing Care
- Regularly pray for and check in with the community group leaders who are under your care
- Support and advise community group leaders in the pastoral care of their members
- Check-in with community group leaders monthly and meet at least once every other month to encourage them in their spiritual formation and in the care and development of their leaders

Requirements
Qualifications:
- A growing/mature Christian, deeply rooted in the gospel of grace
- Embraces Redeemer Downtown’s vision and values
- Heart for New York City
- Member of Redeemer Downtown (or willing to join)
- Previous small group leadership experience
- Organizational and administrative skills
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Google apps, and Zoom
- College degree, theological education a plus
- Availability on weekends and evenings (including availability to attend the Sunday services of the assigned congregation)
Term & Compensation
The position will require 20 hours per week and pays $30 per hour.
The position is based on a 1 year contract, which can be extended or transitioned to a Full-time position based on performance and staffing needs.
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill set; experience and training; licensure, certifications, and ordination; and other organizational needs.
