Atlanta Westside Presbyterian Church (“Westside”) is a 16-year-old church with 800 members located in the westside of intown Atlanta. Our purpose is to embody and preview the Kingdom of God from Buckhead to Bankhead. Our Core Values are:

Position Summary
This role provides primary leadership for Westside’s pastoral care aligned with the vision and values of the church. It includes strengthening a culture of care, as well as directing and equipping various lay leader involvement such as the Care Advisors and Deacons. The role provides oversight of the membership process and assimilation of new members, and discipleship leadership with a particular focus on men.
Responsibilities
Pastoral Care
• Lead and manage the pastoral care ministry of the church
• Develop and implement a strategy and plan for delivering the appropriate care to the appropriate people
• Provide direct pastoral care for members and attenders, including some pastoral counseling
• Cast a vision and develop a culture of care throughout the congregation
• Triage pastoral care needs and make assignments to the appropriate resources
• Recruit, equip, and mobilize Care Advisors
• Serve as the primary referral liaison with professional counseling resources
• Oversee the Marriage Pastor and Care Administrator
• Provide leadership in the discipleship of congregants with a particular focus on men Diaconate
• Serve as the primary pastoral contact with the Diaconate in their ministry of congregational care
• Ensure ongoing equipping and training of deacons Membership and Assimilation
• Oversee the church membership process
• Provide strategic leadership and direction for assimilation of new members into the life of the church
General Pastoral Duties
• Be an active pastoral presence seeking to build relationships to welcome newcomers, connect meaningfully with regular visitors and members
• Assist with pastoral duties in worship as needed, including welcome, administering the sacraments and prayer
• Preach occasionally
• Lead and oversee the process of recruiting, assessing, and training of new elders and deacons
Salary: >=$90K
Requirements
Required Qualifications
• Seminary graduate degree (M.A., M.Div.)
• Ordained or immediately ordainable in the Presbyterian Church in America
• Personal characteristics consistent with Christian maturity
• Strong pastoral instincts and natural disposition to provide care for people
• Minimum of five years of ministry experience
• Proven track record of fruitful engagement in evangelism and discipleship
• Deep personal desire to unite people across the divisions of race, class, and culture with the power of the Gospel
• Commitment to help foster a healthy staff team culture
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in a diverse church setting
• Experience in a large church with a sizeable staff team
• Experience with a pastoral internship program
