Openings: Concert Choir – Middle to High School Age

Reports to: Ensemble Director and Choir Manager

Status: 5-6 months, part-time evenings, two rehearsals per week (Monday and Thursday), weekend concerts, special rehearsals, non-exempt


Mission Focus

Come be a part of The St. Louis Children’s Choirs, known nationally and internationally for excellence in musicianship, character development, and performance-based choral education. Ensemble Assistants work closely with the ensemble director to ensure the singers are prepared and rehearsals run smoothly. You will enjoy weekly interaction with students while observing master teachers in choral music education. Be a joyful, vital contributor to the positive environment expressed in all the activities of the Choirs that fulfill the mission of “shaping young lives through musical excellence.”


Essential Duties

  • Provide administrative and musical support for the ensemble director
  • Organize music distribution and keep accurate student attendance records
  • Assist in supervising students in rehearsals, on rehearsal breaks, and in performances
  • Set up and take down of rehearsal spaces and supervise parent pick-up
  • Serve as first line of communication with students and parents at rehearsals and concerts
  • Interact positively, respectfully, and warmly with staff, students, families, and audience members
  • Follow operating procedures and safety protocols to ensure safety of students


Salary: Hourly

Requirements


Qualifications

  • Undergraduate, graduate students, and adults who enjoy working with young people and love music; music education experience is a plus
  • Have a sincere love of children and the ability to anticipate the needs of students and parents
  • Patient, energetic, confident leader, organized and detail-oriented; punctual and reliable
  • Conscientious work ethic, accuracy, thoroughness, order, and efficiency
  • Able to respond positively and professionally to any situation
  • Gracious customer service skills and administrative experience are a plus
  • Able to work assigned evenings and weekends to support concerts, auditions, and special events
