Application Deadline: Jun 1, 2024
Description
Come help a church planting in a suburb of Cleveland, OH!
Story Church (PCA) is a 3 year old church plant with 45 adults and children. We started as a parachute plant in early 2020 and faced monumental setbacks during the COVID-19 shutdowns. Slowly, the Lord has blessed us with families and friends joining our mission to invite neighbors into a new story shaped by Jesus. As we head into 2024, we are looking for a recent MDIV graduate to join us in that mission!
In particular, we would love to provide hands-on experience in church planting to someone considering that call in the future. This would be a support-raised position, with the potential for future support from Story Church as we grow. We would also hope the individual would pursue coming under care of the Ohio Presbytery and serve as a pastoral intern to fulfill ordination requirements and progress toward licensure & ordination. Some responsibilities include:
- Get to know the neighborhoods of Mayfield Heights, The Village of Mayfield, Gates Mills, Highland Heights, Lyndhurst, and other communities around Story Church. Help direct our vision toward inviting those neighbors into a new story shaped by Jesus.
- Plan and execute new outreach initiatives.
- Assist our ministry teams (Worship, Hospitality, Adult, Children’s) in developing and tightening processes to better serve visitors and reach neighbors.
- Preach 1x/month (on average) (req. becoming licensed)
- Organize , plan, and write weekly discussion questions for community groups.
- Other responsibilities as assigned/agreed upon.
Training/assistance in formulating a fundraising plan.
Salary: Undisclosed
Requirements
We are looking for a young adult who is a recent graduate (as of summer 2024) with an MDIV interested in exploring church planting. Preferable someone comfortable with northeast Ohio, but willing to work with anyone. Strong relational skills needed to connect with new neighbors throughout the city, build and strengthen existing relationships amongst members of the church, and work alongside existing leadership and ministry team structures. We would like this person to be willing to come under care of the Ohio Presbytery and to pursue Licensure and Ordination. Fundraising is necessary for this position with the potential for financial support from the church as the church grows.
