Redeemer Church, PCA, is a multi-ethnic community of Christians committed to glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ and proclaiming the Good News of His Kingdom in both word and deed to the Broadmoor / Broadmeadow (Fondren North) neighborhoods, the city of Jackson, and to the world.
Redeemer Church Jackson occupies a unique place within the PCA (our denomination), we hold fast to the doctrinal truths of the Reformed tradition AND we incorporate elements of cross-cultural and multi-ethic ministry that are not often found within our tradition. Related to this position, our music ministry is characterized by a collection of black gospel music combined with other expressions of music including hymns, choral offerings and contemporary worship music.
This position will direct the musical activities that take place throughout the life of the church, helping the church navigate the unique combination of music and church tradition that characterizes Redeemer. This leader will help to nurture and build our musical team and their capabilities.
Salary: $30K-$59K
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Christian Commitment/Character: Possesses vibrant, growing relationship with Christ as evidenced in the fruit of the Spirit and repentance in life.
- Musically Gifted: Has a passion for music and its use in corporate worship. Piano/organ (Hammond B-3) ability strongly preferred and has experience leading vocalists and musicians.
- Multi-Ethnic Ministry Heart: Passion to work in a multi-ethnic, diverse environment and build ministry that intentionally includes church members from different racial and socio-economic cultures in the conduct of corporate and individual worship.
- Skills: Clear communicator, emotionally intelligent and humble. A connector with the desire and ability to work as part of a team and bring worship into the life of the church. Courageous leader willing to influence the spiritual growth of the congregation through worship. Has the heart of a worshipper. Gifted with kind and patient teaching of choir participants.
Responsibilities:
- Worship Planning and Leading – The primary role of the Director of Music Ministry will be to create and plan Sunday worship services in conjunction with the pastoral staff. This will include music selection along with arrangement, composition and performance. This responsibility will also include weekly rehearsals with musicians and vocalists.
- Team Building and Spiritual Care – This position will also actively recruit and train members for the music ministry. Create regular, meaningful environments for spiritual care and community among musicians, vocalists and choir.
- Program Administration – Provide administrative oversight to Music Ministry through budgeting, musical selection licensure and the development and implementation of policies necessary to ensure a consistent and vibrant music ministry.
- Church/Staff Member – Personally committed to Redeemer apart from music ministry role including openness and growth toward Redeemer’s place within the PCA.
- Worship Beyond Music—Participate in the expansion of the worship life of the church beyond music during worship services. This will include interaction with Redeemer Community Arts and other culture making ministries within Redeemer.
Position:
This is a salaried part time position (targeting 25-30 hours/week with potential to grow into full-time role).
