Description
Central Presbyterian Church is seeking four skilled vocalists (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) to provide vocal leadership in our Chancel Choir. Central is a historic congregation in St. Louis, faithfully rooted in God's word, strong in Reformed confessional doctrine, and with a genuine heart for reaching the world with the gospel of Jesus. Our music ministry, and Chancel Choir specifically, strongly embraces that calling with a vision to lead congregational worship with vibrancy and excellence in a diversity of styles, grow disciples through community, and serve the mission of Christ at every opportunity.
In addition to Sunday worship, the Chancel Choir also sings two concerts annually featuring large-scale sacred choral masterworks. Past seasons have included Handel Messiah, Brahms and Faure Requiems, Vivaldi and Rutter Glorias, and similar works. It is our vision to present these works as a means of witnessing Christ through the arts. The 24/25 season will include the Bach Magnificat and Durufle Requiem.

Requirements
Position Responsibilities:
- Weekly Rehearsals (Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings)
- Sunday worship at 8:30am weekly, additionally 11:15am monthly
- Holiday Worship Services (Christmas Eve, Holy Week)
- Concerts (typically Christmas and Lent/Easter)
- (opt) Solo opportunities, weddings, funerals, etc.
Requirements/Misc:
- Strong vocal training (classical), excellent sight-reading and ear training.
- Collegial attitude, reliable communicator, able to be punctual to services and events
- Paid per-call (typically 2 calls per week).
Musicians are also welcome to participate in other areas of our music ministry (worship teams, instrumental groups, etc.) or elsewhere in our ministry to gain further experience.
