Description
Central Presbyterian Church in St. Louis is seeking a highly skilled pianist and/or organist as an interim choral accompanist for our Chancel Choir. This role provides assists the choir and the director of music by providing keyboard accompaniment for our active choral ministry. Central is an EPC church faithfully rooted in God’s Word, strong in Reformed confessional doctrine, and with a genuine heart for reaching the world with the gospel of Christ, and our music ministry fully embraces that mission.
The Chancel Choir sings weekly, leading musical worship on Sundays Sept-May, as well as for holiday worship services (Christmas Eve, Holy Week), occasional additional services, and typically two choral concerts per season (Christmas and Lent/Easter). Repertoire embraces the best of the sacred choral tradition, ranging from Renissance polyphony through the present day. Additionally the choir annually sings sacred choral masterworks. Recent concerts featured Handel Messiah, Brahms and Faure Requiems, Rutter and Vivaldi Glorias, and other similar works. The 24/25 season will include the Bach Magnificat and Durufle Requiem.
The church's sanctuary is home to a pipe organ (3-manual, 52 rank Casavant) and grand piano (7' Steinway) which are used weekly in worship for congregational song and choral accompanying. The church also owns a 2 manual harpsichord and a portative organ which are used occasionally in concerts as well as worship.

Requirements
Qualifications:
A successful candidate will be a professing Christian and a highly trained and skilled classical keyboard player (collegiate/professional level), either pianist or organist, with excellent collaborative/accompanying and sight-reading skills. Candidates who can play both instruments to a reasonable degree of proficiency are ideal.
Expectations:
- Able to attend all scheduled rehearsals, typically:
- Weekly choir rehearsals as per schedule (typically Wed. evenings 6pm and Sunday mornings 8am)
- Weekly worship services at 8:30am, occasional extra service at 11:15 (monthly)
- Holiday worship services (Christmas Eve 7p, and 9p, Holy Week)
- Concerts (Dec/April)
- Provide choral accompaniment for all repertoire assigned by the director.
- Support the singers in rehearsal through playing parts, outlining accompaniment, etc., as requested by the director.
- Optional opportunities to play preludes, postludes, and special service music.
- Optional opportunities to be called for weddings, funerals, etc.
- Prepare/practice on own time any organ repertoire (if applicable).

- Excellent communication skills, organized, prompt, professional.
- Paid hourly (commensurate with experience, competitive), direct deposit bi-weekly.
