The Successful Candidate Will Meet the Following Criteria:

·        A Christian man with a pastor’s heart for men who are broken in the area of sexuality.

·        Team-player able to accomplish tasks in a relational manner.

·        Self-starter, approachable, grounded in grace and compassionate.               

·        Member of an evangelical church and who can affirm FirstLight’s statement of faith and statement on sexual ethics.

·        Able to integrate modern psychological practices with a theological understanding of humanity as revealed in Scripture.

·        Self-motivated to educate himself about issues regarding sexuality, especially male sex addiction.

·        Open about his own sexuality and efforts to maintain the Bible’s ideal. If he has a history of sex addiction himself, he will be in recovery and open about his struggle with FirstLight team members.

·        Able to work several nights per week and on occasional weekends.

This person will be responsible for the following:

·        Facilitate 2-4 Stage 1 Groups of 6-8 men each through a 10-month curriculum.

·        Conduct intake interviews with men who are considering joining the men’s community.

·        Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure that FirstLight is able to offer an appropriate level of care.

·        Collaborate with the Sexual Discipleship Director to provide continuity of care for men who are deemed a good fit for FirstLight.

·        Develop awareness of how the entire FirstLight program works.

The ideal candidate will have advanced training in understanding the Bible, theology, and small group discipleship. Training in pastoral care and counseling is also highly desirable. Candidates who hold a master’s degree in a related ministry field are preferred. Someone who has, or is pursuing, both a master’s in theology or divinity, and a master’s in counseling is ideal.
