FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Work Hours: Part Time-B, 20 hours per week, including Sundays
Reports To: Lead Pastor, Redeemer Brooklyn
Date: January 2025
Rate: $30 per hour

Position Summary
The Children’s Ministry Manager will be part of an exciting new church plant, and will have the opportunity to help build and shape systems, processes, and culture. The Children’s Ministry Manager cares deeply about the spiritual formation of children in our community. This role recruits, screens, trains, supervises and coordinates volunteers for all children’s ministry at Redeemer Brooklyn. The Children’s Ministry Manager role also entails editing curriculum and other materials and programming for children ages birth through Grade 5. This person will lead a ministry that is Gospel-centered, age appropriate, and fits in with the overall vision of Redeemer Brooklyn.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Administration/Systems (40%)
- Building and implementing systems and processes to effectively facilitate children’s worship services.
- Organize curriculum for the ministry year by creating scope and sequence and keeping files organized on the share drive.
- Review weekly curriculum leader guides and lesson plans for each class.
- Volunteer communication, coordination, and scheduling, as well as external communication to families regarding events and programs.
- Help develop additional family events, including summer Vacation Bible School and outreach events in the future.
- Set up and manage TouchPoint database for Sunday registrations and other events.
- Oversee volunteer onboarding process including communication with potential volunteers, monitoring of children’s ministry application email account, tracking progress for all potential volunteers, running background checks, uploading paperwork, etc.
Volunteers (25%)
- Meet with new volunteers for interview and orientation.
- General volunteers management including weekly communications to share lesson plans, coordinate schedules, and provide other pertinent information.
- Plan and implement training for volunteers and hire other staff as needed.
Sundays (25%)
- Help foster a safe, organized and welcoming environment for families and children.
- Supervise classrooms, prepare lessons and teach, and plan and lead children’s worship, prioritizing the spiritual formation of children in our community.
- Create systems and processes for all Sunday children’s ministry to include check-in, set-up, safety, volunteer and family communication.
- Set up and organize supplies for all classes, making sure supplies are fully stocked
- Meet with volunteers for pre-service meeting, providing vision, information, and prayer.
Events (10%)
- Assist in planning and executing additional family and churchwide events, socials, and neighborhood outreach events.

Qualifications:

- Entrepreneurial, self-starter, and highly motivated, with the ability to cast vision for the ministry area.
- Ability to take initiative toward action, with little information.
- Excellent communication skills; written, oral, interpersonal and presentation.
- Understanding of child development.
- Previous experience with classroom management, preferred.
- Previous teaching experience, preferred.
- Proficient in MS office applications, Internet and ability to quickly learn new software and programs.
- Minimum 5 years professional experience, experience with a religious or 501(c)3 nonprofit preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s level management degree preferred.
