ABOUT OUR SCHOOL: We are a private, urban, Christian mission school (Pre-Kindergarten – 8th Grade). Our Class sizes range between 15 and 20 students. Teacher/Student Ratio is 1:15. The mission of The Freedom School is to provide a safe, nurturing, learning community where students of different beliefs, races, ethnicities and economic circumstances are reconciled to God and one another by experiencing forgiveness by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
POSITIONS NEEDED: Classroom Teacher 7th/8th Grade combined class
SUPERVISOR: Principal
COMPENSATION: starting pay $45,000 Commensurate with experience.
SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION
Lead students to Christ and model the Christian life through the practical working out of a consistent worldview. Demonstrate the competencies and behaviors needed to support students’ academic & social/emotional learning. This includes helping students become fully prepared to matriculate to the next grade by end of school year. Embrace and model the school’s core values found in our PEARLS (Perseverance, Excellence, Academics, Reconciliation, Love).
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / Duties include but are not limited to:
● Teaches subject matter in the following: math, science, history and Bible.
● Creates lesson plans, aligned with grade standards, which drive instruction through formative assessment and differentiation
● Maintains a safe, organized classroom which supports students’ independent and collaborative learning
● Effectively applies restorative disciplinary practices
● Uses assessments to inform planning and instruction
● Provides consistent, immediate feedback to student learning and sends weekly newsletter to parents to keep them informed of student progress
● Monitors and maintains a positive classroom environment that supports the school-wide behavior expectations.
● Willing to attend and participate in staff meetings and extra-curricular/school related activities
● Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional growth and works with administrators & other resources
● Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor consistent with school’s staff handbook

Salary: $30K-$59K
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
● Knowledge and application of appropriate teaching strategies and methods
● Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, students, parents, administration and others having business with the school
● Uses computers, projectors/smart boards, and other technology to enhance the students’ learning experiences.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
● Must be able to pass an initial fingerprint and background clearance check
● Teacher certification with state of Missouri or appropriate short term plan
● May be required to lift supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
● May be required to work outside normal working hours for school related programming.
