Description
The Senior Pastor is responsible for leading and carrying out the vision of The First Presbyterian Church of Ocean City, working closely with teaching and ruling elders to provide spiritual leadership and oversight for the congregation and members, and demonstrating a genuine zeal for the truth of Scripture through his preaching and teaching, discipleship, shepherding, and outreach endeavors.
Supervise Staff: Full-time Director of Worship and Family Ministry, part-time Secretary, part-time Custodian, part-time Tech Manager.
- Preach and teach the Scriptures as the uniquely authoritative Word of God. Administer the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
- Conduct wedding ceremonies and funerals in accordance with Session Policy.
- Pray with and for each members of the Congregation and encourage members to commit themselves each Sunday to avail themselves of the ordinary means of grace.
- Working with Elders, encourage the people in the worship and service of God, equipping and enabling them for this work.
- Exercise pastoral care applying and truth and wisdom of the Word of God in the power of the Holy Spirit, devoting special care to the needy in material goods, in health and in consolation.
- Participate in the administration and government of the congregation with the Session, and in the councils of the Presbyterian Church in America.
- Share with the Deacons in their ministry.
- Serve as Moderator of the Session and as general administrator of the daily activities of the church.
- Lead and direct the various programs of the congregation in consultation with the Session.
- Serve the congregation as an under-shepherd of Jesus Christ to whom all pastors will give an account. (Hebrews 13:17).
- The pastor is responsible to find pulpit replacement in his absence.

Requirements
- Ordained or eligible for ordination in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
- Master of Divinity (or functional equivalent) from an accredited seminary.
- Profess a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Morally upright, patient and humble.
- Be willing to confront error and sin with gentleness.
- Believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, as originally given, to be the inerrant Word of God, the only infallible rule of faith and practice.
- Be able to preach expositionally and teach Biblical principles.
