Part-Time
Posted: Feb 5, 2025
Application Deadline: Jul 28, 2025
Description
FPC is looking for a creative, curious, and zealous intern who wants to prepare for ministry in the PCA. Gain experience and exposure to all aspects of Presbyterian church-based ministry, and utilize the ordinary means of grace. You’ll gain experience in preaching, discipleship, shepherding, worship, and visitation, with the opportunity to develop your own ministry in missions, indigenous outreach, mercy, youth, or evangelism. If you have initiative, we want to encourage you on to let your ministry here reflect your God-given gifts and interests. Interns will be prepared for ordination in the PCA. We’d love to see interns move into Pacific NW ministry, but we’re glad to see you grow and serve no matter where it is. We can work with your Presbytery or Classis to make sure you fulfill your internship requirements.
SENIOR PASTOR MENTORSHIP
Rev. Jerid Krulish will be the intern’s mentor. A graduate of RTS Orlando, and has served in pastoral ministry since 2008 in 4 different churches in the PNWP. He’s a normal, non-famous pastor who has experience mentoring seminary students and young pastors.
About Faith: FPC has Sunday School for adults and children, a worship service of 150-200 that lasts about 1.5 hours. We have many who come and go with the military and the oil industry. Racial diversity is unfortunately low at Faith, but not absent. Music is typically hymns and Psalms on piano. We have small groups and a monthly evening service. Our purpose and calling in Anchorage is to heal and equip people, so that together, we can worship and serve the Triune God.
Our values:
1. Gospel Formation
2. Ordinary Means of Grace
3. Scriptural and Theological Integrity
4. Hospitality for All
5. Service from the Heart
6. Joy & Lament
7. Expectant Hope
ABOUT ANCHORAGE
With a population of roughly 300,000, Anchorage is home to nearly 40% of the state’s population, about 1/3 of which are indigenous, Asian, African American, or Hispanic. Summers are mild (70’s) with very long days; avg. winter highs are in the 20’s. An extremely casual city, the wealth of Anchorage is often in contrast with extreme poverty and crime, as the Muni tends to be a drop-off point for addicts from around the state. A major military base brings soldiers and airmen to Anchorage and many to the church. 17,000 students attend the nearby University of Alaska Anchorage, including many non-traditional students. Two major parks feature hundreds of miles of trails for skiing, biking, and hiking.
Salary: $30K-$59K

FUNDING
The intern position is funded generously, with the final package tailored to accommodate seminary matching programs for direct payment to the school. We also offer opportunities for fundraising. We want our interns
to have their needs met. We also include allowances for cold-weather gear, books, and we provide a vehicle.
