Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate teacher to join our Specials teaching team as an Art Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will embrace the Charlotte Mason philosophy, demonstrating a deep understanding of its principles and a commitment to nurturing the creativity of each student. This position reports directly to the Asst. Head of School for Teaching & Learning.
Employee Status & Compensation:
Start Date: Tuesday, August 5, 2025
Grade Level: Preschool 3 – Grade 8
Status: A .4250 FTE; 10-month position, 17 hours/week based on class schedule
Salary Range: Instructional positions range from $40,000 – $50,000 commensurate with education and qualified experience for 1.0 (or the equivalent of) full time employees.
A .4250 FTE would range from $17,000 – $23,000
Standard Benefits: holidays, school breaks, 22 hours of PTO, tuition reduction for employee children and a 403b retirement plan with a discretionary match.
Primary Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate art lessons that align with school standards and foster creative growth.
- Introduce students to various art techniques, materials, and mediums (e.g., drawing, painting, sculpture).
- Develop and manage a safe and stimulating classroom environment.
- Integrate art with other subjects to support interdisciplinary learning.
- Organize and display student artwork for school events, exhibitions, or special projects.
- Provide constructive feedback to help students refine their artistic skills and boost their confidence.
- Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to align curriculum and participate in school-wide initiatives.
- Maintain an inventory of art supplies and stay within budget guidelines.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, academic or behavior concerns and classroom updates.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to continuously enhance teaching skills and stay updated on educational best practices.
Salary: $0-$29K
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification is preferred
- Previous teaching experience with preschool through 8th-grade students (preferred).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for creating a positive and nurturing learning environment.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
