Position Description:
The Student Ministry Director leads the vision, development, and implementation of programs that nurture the spiritual growth of preteens / teens (middle school: 6th-8th grades / high school: 9th-12th grade). This role involves working closely with teens, parents, volunteers, and staff to create a safe, engaging, and spiritually enriching environment. The Director will plan robust discipleship / mentor programs that will creatively engage each group in prayer, scripture, and service. A strong focus will be on discipling each school age-group in a living relationship with Jesus and his church.
Responsibilities:
· Vision & Leadership
Develop a clear ministry vision aligned with the church’s mission. Lead, recruit, and train volunteers. Foster an inclusive environment for children of all backgrounds.
· Program Development
Provide Christ-centered, biblical oversight to the Student Ministry (6th-12th grade), creating a pathway of discipleship for Covenant Students. Determine the milestones / benchmarks a student should achieve in the program (considering discipleship through books of the Bible, gospel-centered teachings, small group discussions, and service opportunities). Provide oversight to all the teaching at the Student Ministry meetings, whether through direct instruction or through the equipping of leaders to teach.
· Student Engagement
Proactively build relationships with students individually and as a group. o Execute events designed to foster relationships within the group and provide welcoming venues for new – hopefully unchurched – friends to join. Plan and execute other discipleship opportunities (retreats, seminars, and so on).
Safety & Security
Maintain safety by training volunteers, equipping them to provide safe, nurturing, Christ-honoring environments where they can mentor students and point them to Jesus in ways that align with Covenant’s vision and values. Ensuring all volunteers are compliant with child protection policies. Maintaining clean and safe ministry spaces
Salary: $60K-$89K
Requirements
Education & Experience
At minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, Youth Ministry, Sociology, Theology or a related field preferred. Leadership experience in student ministry or a related area of ministry. Seminary education is preferred.
Skills
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Proficient in technology and
collaborative work
