Job Purpose
The primary purpose of the Youth Ministry is to partner with families as we seek to commend the Greatness of God in Jesus Christ to all peoples and all generations, by making disciples of our covenant youth and their friends.
Essential Job Responsibilities with Percentage of Time:
Contact Work (incarnational ministry): 60%
● Disciple 1-2 small group of female/male students by meeting with them weekly as a group throughout the school year and praying for them regularly.
● Visit students during their school lunch break (Westminster, Davidson, Lakeside, Heritage, etc.)
● Build relationships with students by attending extracurricular activities to support students several times a semester.
● Spend time with student leaders to disciple them in their faith and also encourage them in leadership and evangelism.
● Write notes of encouragement, birthday cards, etc.
Youth Programs Support: 40%
● Attend and actively participate in weekly Sunday School, Upward Bound and High life meetings
● Lead small group discussion during these meetings
● Occasionally teach these larger group meetings
● Assist Director in planning and executing youth group meetings, retreats, and camps
● Gather supplies and set up for programs and events as needed
Work Hours
● This position is expected to work Sunday as well as other evenings and weekends as part of its ministry. This position will attend High Life and Upward Bound meetings weekly and retreats and camps as scheduled.

Job Qualifications
Christian Faith
● Understanding of and adherence to First Presbyterian Church’s mission, statement of beliefs, and authority
● Living in a relationship with Christ, growing daily in faith, and finding joy in sharing the gospel with others
● Biblical literacy
● If hired, will join FPC within the first six months of employment
● As a member of the ministry staff, your life will need to be an example to those you minister to, and in keeping with Titus 1:7 it will need to be above reproach.
○ You should expect regular times of accountability and if there is an accusation of misconduct the Pastor of Youth and Families will address it with you.
○ Our desire with this type of spiritual oversight is to care for you and the youth of this church. As Jesus stated, it would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble.(Luke 17:2)
Education and Experience
● College degree
● Experience working with youth
Interpersonal Requirements
● Communicate with respect and dignity to all staff and members and maintain positive relationships
● Ability to build relationships and trust with students, school administration, volunteers, and others
● Ability to teach or lead a small group
● Cultural intelligence - ability to relate and effectively communicate across cultures
Technical Requirements
● Ability to learn and use our time tracking system (iSolved), and database system (Ministry Platform)
● Proficient in Microsoft Suite, email, internet

Cognitive Requirements
● Strong attention to detail
● Strong organizational skills
● Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with staff, church members and non-church members
Physical Requirements
This position is very active and is classified as light work requiring:
● Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or other move objects, including the human body.
