Description
The Children’s Ministry Director (CMD) is one who loves Jesus, strives to have a character like Jesus, and deeply cares about children loving Jesus. Thus, the CMD spearheads the creation of a culture and system of gospel-centered children’s ministry that brings the love of Jesus to the children God brings to Restoration Community Church (RCC). This includes recruitment, screening, training, and organization of a volunteer team; programming of various children’s ministry classes and events; and promoting a vision in which the children of RCC are not simply handed-off for childcare, but a vital part of the worshiping community because they are a part of the Body of Christ. This position oversees ages nursery-5th grade and is 30hrs/week.
Salary: Hourly
Requirements
While no candidate can have every gift, the following four competencies would allow the CMD to flourish in their role at RCC.
Relationship Builder
- Much of the CMD’s role involves interacting with people: staff, volunteers, parents, and children. Thus, the ability to engage, welcome, and build relationships with a variety of ages and personalities is vital.
Teacher
- Whether it’s adults or children, the CMD should be able to teach. This could be in the form of equipping our volunteers at our two bi-annual Leader Gatherings, or filling in for a children’s class because one of the volunteers has called out sick. Additionally, this teaching skill should be paired with the behind-the-scenes necessity of evaluating, choosing, and editing curriculum for the children’s ministry classes.
Administrator
- Children’s ministry can be a complex system, so the gift of administration is an important aspect of the CMD role. From managing the schedules of a volunteer team; to keeping track of the ministry’s calendar; to sending weekly Friday emails; to creating sermon bulletins for Sunday morning; to ensuring the classrooms are ready (neat, clean, supplies are laid out), there is a lot to do. The CMD will need to be able to juggle the variety of needs for the weekly operation of RCC’s children’s ministry.
Executor
- Leading involves the execution of RCC’s vision to see children love Jesus with all of their heart, soul, mind, and strength. This requires being able to communicate the RCC vision to families and volunteers; recruiting, screening, equipping, and organizing a team to meet the weekly needs of RCC’s children’s ministry; and carrying out these goals in the various weekly/annual events of RCC’s children’s ministry
