Job Title: Youth Director/Pastor
Reporting Relationships: Pastor of Next Generation Ministries
Employment Status: Salaried/Full-time/Exempt
Position Summary
The Youth Director/Pastor works with the Pastor of Next Generation Ministries in implementing the Vision (“Advance the Kingdom of God”) and Mission (“Experience and Express Grace”) of Southwood with a particular focus on youth (7th-12th grades). He is to lead Southwood staff and volunteers in ministering to these students as well as support and assist the Pastor of Next Generation Ministries in ministering to their families, both at Southwood and in the Huntsville community.
Principal Job Responsibilities
- Teaching in the large-group teaching environments with junior and senior high students
- Focus shepherding efforts on students and youth staff with the aim of increasing spiritual maturity in their relationship with Jesus
- Assist in the oversight of programs and schedule for youth ministry to engage students from Southwood (covenant kids) and the Huntsville community (their friends). This includes all Sunday School classes, small groups, conferences, mission trips, etc.
- Foster community among families with youth for encouragement, fellowship, and mission
- Develop student leaders who share in ministry to other students in the church and community
Salary: $60K-$89K

- Spiritual gifts of leadership, teaching, wisdom, and administration
- Strong individual decision-making skills and willingness to submit joyfully to authority
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Temperament that is winsome and attractive to both young and old
Pastoral Job Responsibilities
- Preferably Teaching Elder (Ordained or Ordainable) in the Presbyterian Church of America
- Leading worship service liturgy (~10 times/year)
- Preaching in corporate worship service (~3 times/year)
- Shared shepherding responsibilities, weddings, funerals, etc. (as needed)
