Description
The Log Cabin on the CTS campus provides free childcare for children ages 6 months-5 years for families of current students. Our hope is to provide a supportive, nurturing environment where children can have a "home away from home" while their parents study or catch their breath. We are seeking to add childcare workers for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. The Log Cabin meetings Tuesday-Friday mornings during the fall and spring academic semesters on all days classes meet. This is a paid position and also an opportunity for current students to complete Field Education hours while working through an internship supervised by Annalisa Smith, the Family Nurture Coordinator. Current students or student spouses may also bring up to two of their own children to their working shift. Work hours can range from one 2-3 hour shift per week to approx 12 hrs per week depending on class schedule and availability. Some Friday evening or Saturday morning hours can also be added for events on an optional basis.

Requirements
Applicants must have a clear background check and a recommendation from a previous employer as a trustworthy person. They also complete an interview with the Family Nurture Coordinator and receive training in child sexual abuse prevention and first aid/CPR. Applicants should be current students or student spouses. International applicants must have a student visa or green card. Applicants should be show care and kindness to children while being watchful over their safety. Activities are prepared and led by the Family Nurture coordinator, and childcare workers assist in many ways with feeding, diapering and toileting (female workers only), playing, helping with activities and crafts, reading stories, basic cleaning before and after childcare times, and talking with children. Previous experience in a childcare setting is helpful. Parenting, babysitting, Sunday School teaching, or other volunteer roles also provide good experience, and a creative and flexible attitude goes a long way! Current pay is $13.75/hr.
