Position Summary
The Director of Music will lead and develop a Christ-centered, theologically rich music
ministry that glorifies God and strengthens congregational worship. This role involves
planning and leading worship services, coordinating special services, and overseeing all
musical aspects of worship. The director should be deeply rooted in Christian faith, possess
strong musical and leadership abilities, and demonstrate a heart for worship that is in
keeping with Covenant's principles for worship: word-centered, grace-filled, historic and
hospitable, forming and sending. This position reports to the senior pastor.
Key Responsibilities
Worship Planning & Leadership
- Collaborate with pastoral staff to plan biblically grounded, theologically rich worship
- services.
- Select and arrange music that aligns with sermon themes and liturgical seasons.
- Recruit readers
- Lead worship vocally and/or instrumentally, including overseeing choirs, bands, and
- ensembles.
- Incorporate both historic and modern hymns and songs in a blended worship style.
Team Development & Oversight
- Recruit and mentor musicians and choir members
- Build and lead a volunteer-based worship team, encouraging wide participation. Supervise paid musicians and coordinate rehearsals and scheduling.
Special Services & Church Integration
- Plan and lead music for special services (e.g., Christmas, Good Friday, Easter).
- Support and collaborate with other church ministries and community events. Develop youth and children’s choirs or music programs as appropriate.
Technical & Administrative Management
- Manage the maintenance of instruments
- Maintain the music ministry budget and purchase music as needed.

Requirements
Qualifications
- Committed Christian with a deep love for Jesus and alignment with Reformed/Presbyterian doctrine.
- Degree in music (or equivalent experience)
- Excellent musical proficiency (vocal and instrumental preferred).
- Strong organizational, communication, and relational skills.
- Experience leading music in a church setting
- Ability to affirm and support the church’s vision and theological standards (e.g., Westminster Confession of Faith or PCA doctrinal standards).
How to Apply
Hours & Compensation
- Part-time (Approximately 30 hours per week)
- Sundays and rehearsals are required; weekday flexibility expected
- 4 Sundays off per year
