 Youth Director / Pastor

Position Description

General Description 

The Youth Director/Pastor is a full-time ministry staff member who gives direction to the youth ministry, personally ministers to young people, recruits volunteers to carry out the work of the ministry, and oversees other members of the youth staff. The person must be a professing Christian who displays spiritual maturity and be in agreement with evangelical reformed theology (see http://pcanet.org/general/beliefs.htm ). The person will have significant interaction with the youth, their parents, and volunteers who work with the youth. 

Church Profile

 Peace Church is a 45 year-old congregation in Cary, North Carolina, an affluent, growing, family-friendly suburb of the Research Triangle. The church has 575 members with a weekly average attendance of 460, primarily families, with 50+ active youth. Students are in public school, private school, and home school. We currently have 4 full-time pastoral staff, a full-time female assistant youth director, a full-time office manager/facilities director, and 8 part-time staff. The mission of Peace Church is to honor God, to help people grow in the grace of Jesus, and to equip them for their purpose in God’s Kingdom.  

Organizational relationships 

Reports within the Pastoral Staff

Supervises other members of the Youth Staff

Recruits, trains, and supports adult volunteers serving the Youth 


Key Responsibilities 

1. Provide leadership to the youth programs of the church (6th-12th grade)

2. Oversee the youth staff and volunteers 

3. Personally participates in ministry to the youth, both churched and unchurched 

4. Disciple youth and teach the whole counsel of God in various settings (large group, small groups, one-on-one, etc.)

5. Encourage youth to deepen their relationships with one another as well as those outside the church 

6. Encourage youth to serve others through both local and short-term missions opportunities 

7. Create exciting relationship-building activities for youth 

8. Manage youth budget to achieve Department goals

9. Serve on the Children’s & Youth Ministry Center


Salary: $60K-$89K

Requirements


Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements

• Must possess a four-year bachelor's degree 

• Candidates without a seminary degree must be willing to undergo seminary training 

• Previous youth ministry experience preferred

• Must be adept at using social media to communicate with youth and parents
