Description


Covenant Theological Seminary invites applications and nominations for a full-time faculty appointment at the level of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor of Applied Theology. The position will start preferably in the fall of 2026. 


The person in this position teaches courses in the curriculum that focus on the spiritual formation of our students (e.g., Christian Formation and Calling) and the practical aspects of pastoral preparation (e.g., Ministry Leadership). Along with classroom teaching, the person is the Director of the Church Planting Track of the MDiv and MABTS programs, which includes coordinating with our Field Education Director; and performing other duties such as planning church planting field trips, managing church planting track cohort meetings, teaching and recruiting for church planting and renewal elective courses, etc. This person will also have a vital role on a team of people at Covenant Seminary that will be assessing, developing, and implementing a comprehensive Christian Formation plan for our students. Finally, in partnership with the MNA Committee of the Missouri Presbytery, it is hoped that the person would serve as the Director of Church Planting for Missouri Presbytery, leading church planting efforts and acting as liaison between the Seminary, MNA committee of MO Presbytery, and the PCA’s Mission to North America national committee. Other responsibilities could include involvement in the DMin program through regular teaching and dissertation supervision, etc.

Requirements


The qualified candidate will:


  • Have solid experience pastoring a church.


  • Have solid experience in church planting.


  • Be able to teach courses related to church planting and Christian formation.


  • Have an advanced degree (PhD or DMin) or be willing to get one.


Candidates must also be in agreement with the doctrinal distinctives of the Presbyterian Church in America (see https://www.covenantseminary.edu/about-us and https://pcanet.org/beliefs/), and belong to, or be willing to belong to, a church in the Reformed tradition.
