Pastor Job Description
Hope Evangelical Church (PCA) is a church committed to Reformed theology and has a warm, welcoming community. The pastor role at Hope involves faithfully preaching the Word, shepherding the flock, and equipping believers for ministry within our North Liberty, Iowa community. The following is not meant to detail every possible duty that might come up on a day-to-day basis, or to exclude additional tasks that the church Session may require.
Leading
- In coordination with the Session help to set the vision of the church’s ministry and apply strategic thinking and planning to move the church membership toward realization of that vision, as God would grant.
- Study and be informed of trends in culture to encourage those that are in accord with the revealed will of God and to equip the church to stand against those that are in opposition.
Managing
- Moderate Session and congregational meetings, making sure that the various aspects of the church’s ministry are functioning as they should and that the church and Session are adhering to Biblical principles, the PCA Book of Church Order, Iowa Presbytery Standing Rules and the local church priorities.
Doing
- Prepare order of worship for each week’s service, consulting with office staff, music personnel and session as appropriate.
