SUMMARY: The Sunday Operations Manager will provide logistical leadership to Grace Meridian Hill’s weekly worship service and its member-volunteers. Those who are organized problem-solvers and personable managers of people will flourish in this role. Grace Meridian Hill is a dynamic, urban, neighborhood congregation in the heart of Washington, DC. By God’s grace, we are building a gospel community that is intentionally spiritually diverse, cross-cultural and neighborhood-centered for the good of our neighbors and the glory of Jesus Christ in Columbia Heights, Mount Pleasant, Adams Morgan, Petworth, and beyond. We seek to grow by regularly devoting ourselves to worship, community, formation, and mission.
Sunday Supervision (4 hrs)
- Open and close church building each Sunday. Oversee and direct weekly volunteers and teams in the preparation and execution of Sunday service logistics (setup, communion, welcoming, LCD). Coordinate with Music Team and Children’s Ministry as needed. Serve as liaison to landlord (First Church SDA). Upload sermon audio to Soundcloud.
Volunteer Management (2 hrs)
- Schedule Sunday member-volunteers. Send weekly reminders to serving. Encourage, trouble-shoot, and communicate with volunteers. Help create a joyful, hospitable, team-oriented, energetic culture of service.
Sunday Teams (2 hrs)
- Provide support to team leaders. Mobilize leaders and volunteers for special events and services. Promote team ownership of Sunday ministries and the implementation of creative ideas.Convene semi-annual team meetings. Recruit new leaders and volunteers as needed.
