Position Summary:
Our Nursery program is committed to creating a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for our faculty & staff children ages 0-3. For the second half of the 2025-2026 school year, South City Community School will serve a total of five (5) faculty & staff children ranging in age from 2 months to 2 years on Fridays. The ideal candidate will work alongside a full time Nursery staff. This position reports directly to the Assistant Head of School for Finance and Operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
● Staff expected to be onsite and ready to accept children no later than 8:00am
● Ensuring the children have good hygiene and changing diapers as necessary
● Cleaning interactive areas throughout the day
● Preparing meals and snacks for the kids
● Organizing activities and providing a safe and fun environment
● Assisting other staff member(s) in keeping a schedule for the children to maintain throughout the day
● Keeping daily record of each child’s diaper/restroom usage, food and nap schedule plus any problems that may occur to report to parents each day
● Maintaining contact with the children’s parents and contacting them in the case of an emergency

● Strong verbal communication and listening skills to converse with children, fellow professional caregivers and parents or guardians
● Excellent patience and stamina for keeping up with the demands of children of all ages

Work Environment
● Mainly indoors unless age group is such where outdoor activities and playground use can be applicable
● Ability to lift up to 50 lbs depending on size of children in Nursery care
Salary: Hourly
Requirements
.Qualifications
● Valid CPR and first-aid certifications (SCCS will provide class onsite if needed)
● Enthusiasm for working with children in an after school or recreational setting.
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
● Dependability, punctuality, and a willingness to assist with various tasks as needed.
● Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
● Physical stamina and the ability to perform light to moderate physical tasks, such as standing, walking, lifting, and carrying.
● High school diploma or equivalent
