Description
Purpose: To grow the hearts of our children through loving engagement, increasing their understanding of Scripture, helping them see their lives through the Gospel and equipping families in the raising of their children. To promote a heart for kids ministry in the church by developing and training volunteers to serve passionately in the kids ministry.
Reports to: Director of Next Generation
Accountable for: Volunteer Staff – Nursery and Elementary staff
Time Requirements: part time (~10hr/week)
Responsibilities:
- Serve most Sundays in the children’s department in all roles - rotating through each of the children’s areas to train and work with volunteers.
- Curriculum purchasing/preparation, volunteer recruitment, and volunteer care.
- Provide meetings for training, and encouragement of volunteers.
- Responsible for purchasing equipment and supplies for all programs as well as maintenance and organization of all supplies used in Children’s ministry.
- Weekly set up/cleanup of Children’s areas.
- Mentor and develop other potential leaders to serve as ministry heads for various aspects of children’s ministry.
- Communicate regularly with parents.
- Plan and coordinate special children’s events.
- Host kids programming on special events (Serve STL)
- Attend bi-annual Refresh meetings and the annual Greenhouse meeting with the director team.
- Be active in the life of the church, including attending a group.
Salary: $0-$29K
Requirements
- 1-3 years children’s ministry experience desired.
- Demonstrates evidence of a Christ-like attitude in words and actions.
- Has a burning desire to share the life of Jesus with children and see them begin and grow in Christian faith.
- Loves children and demonstrates patience in dealing with them.
- Committed to the vision, mission, and beliefs of the church.
- Supportive of other church staff and volunteers.
- Outgoing.
- Self-starting—able to work independently.
