STATEMENT OF BELIEFS, FAITH AND DOCTRINE
The lives of counselors and leaders called by God and accepted for service at the Christian Counseling Center of First Presbyterian Church should give evidence of the following:
1. A personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 9:23-26)
2. Life of service empowered by the Holy Spirit (Mark 10:45, Galatians 5:23)
3. Biblical integrity in personal and professional relationship (Hebrews 10:24-25)
4. Commitment to active prayer life (Luke 18:1)
5. A lifestyle of holiness, in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:14-16)
6. Commitment to evangelism and discipleship (Matthew 28:18-20)
7. A continuing regular relationship with the Body of Christ in the local church
Therefore, I affirm and believe:
8. In the divine inspiration, inerrancy, infallibility and final authority of the Bible as the Word of God;
9. In the eternal God revealed in Holy Scripture as Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
10. In the unique Deity of Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, whose death and resurrection provide by grace through faith the only means of my salvation;
11. In the transforming presence and power of the Holy Spirit
12 That the Bible is the authoritative Word of God.
13 That there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
14 In the deity and humanity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His present rule as Head of the Church and in His personal return in power and glory.
15 That salvation is based on the sacrifice of Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit.
16 In the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
17 In the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved and the everlasting punishment of the lost.
18 In the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, with equality across racial, sex, and class differences.
19 In the Biblical accuracy of the standards of the First Presbyterian Church including the Westminster Confession of Faith and have no major objections to such standards that would hinder my ability to serve as an evangelical Christian counselor.
20. That sexuality is a gift given from God. His revealed design for sexuality is for its expression exclusively within the bounds of the marriage covenant instituted between one man and one woman. Additionally, there are only two genders (male and female) which are meant to correspond with our biological sex.
Finally, I agree that if I change any statement of faith or theological value, belief, or opinion such that it is contrary to those set forth above, I will notify the director of the Christian Counseling Center.
