Description


The Summer Crew Leader mentors and supervises middle- and high-school youth in a Christian, mission-driven tuckpointing job training program that emphasizes hard work, character formation, and leadership development. Crew Leaders guide daily work crews on active job sites, model servant leadership, build meaningful relationships with youth, and help maintain a safe, structured learning environment. No tuckpointing or construction experience is required—all training is provided. This role is ideal for seminary students seeking hands-on ministry experience through discipleship, mentorship, and leadership in an urban context.

Requirements


  • At least 18 years of age
  • A genuine heart for God, for the city, and for serving youth
  • Desire to build meaningful relationships through presence, consistency, and mentorship
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and engage in hands-on work alongside youth
  • Ability to model Christian character, humility, and servant leadership
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test
  • Dependable, teachable, and able to work well as part of a team
  • Tuckpointing or construction experience is NOT required
  • Ability to commit to the entire summer program (May 26, 2026 – July 24, 2026)

Program Details

  • Dates: Tuesday, May 26 – Friday, July 24
  • Mid-summer break: Monday, June 29 – Friday, July 3 (no programming)
  • Week 1: Orientation Week
  • First two days are staff-only training days
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Positions Available & Pay:
  • Assistant Crew Leader: $17.48/hour
  • Head Crew Leader: $22.95/hour
  • Program Overview:
  • We serve approximately 80 youth, ages 12–18, from the North St. Louis City area
  • We are hiring 15 Crew Leaders total for the summer
  • Youth and staff are divided into 5 crews
  • Each crew is assigned tuckpointing projects for low-income homeowners, providing free tuckpointing services
  • Many homeowners served are widows
