Description
Purpose
To equip ministers of the gospel with tools and training for long term ministry health, to assess fitness for church planting, and to serve Resurrection and Madison with the gifts of the resident.
Timeframe
Starting Summer 2021 (start time is flexible) and continuing for two years. For the duration of the residency, evaluations and planning will take place for what will follow the residency, whether that be church planting or other ministry work.
Status
Full-time at 40-55 hours a week. Bi-vocational could also be considered if the circumstances were right.
Support
· $15,000 will be committed by Resurrection per year.
· Additional funding from Resurrection available if resident is willing to take on other roles, such as worship leader (additional $10,000).
· $15,000 can be applied for from the On Wisconsin Network per year.
· Additional funding can be raised up to a $60,000 salary package (including SS, FICA, and Medicare).
· Following ordination, housing allowance can be separated out from salary.
· No group health insurance provided at this time.
· Other benefits include 4 weeks’ vacation per year, $1,000 moving expense (one-time), $500 a year for books, $1,500 per year ministry expense account, and $1,500 a year for conferences/GA.
Oversight
Reports to the Pastor, Matt Grimsley, and is under the oversight of the Session with yearly reviews. Resident will also interface with the On Wisconsin Network cohort, the Pastoral Development Committee, and the Mission to North America committee for development and clarity on calling.
Salary: $60K-$89K

Qualifications
• A mature faith as evidenced by a love for God and neighbor.
• Exemplary character in the vein of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
• Agrees with the vision and values of Resurrection Presbyterian Church.
• Is a relational fit with pastor and Session
• Values collaborative work in a team environment.
• Comfortable with flexibility in their job routine.
• Self-motivated and self-directed.
• Ordained or ordainable within the Presbyterian Church in America.
• Humble and teachable spirit.
Responsibilities
Common Worship
· assist in planning and execution of weekly worship service
· preach 6-8x a year at Resurrection (other preaching opportunities throughout the presbytery should be abundant since we currently meet at 4 PM on Sunday afternoons)
· assist with search for longer-term facility
Common Life
· oversee our Community Groups, including leader development and training and multiplication of groups.
· take a leading role in developing a church-wide catechesis and spiritual formation plan.
· take an oversight role with ministries to men, women, children and youth, the latter in partnership with other city-centered churches.
· participate in shepherding, counseling, and discipleship ministries of the church
· lead a local community group.
· assist with welcome and assimilation of new members
· assist with planning and execution of church-wide parties and events
Common Good
· take a leading role in developing our mission to urban Madison in conjunction with our mission team.
· development in practicing personal hospitality and evangelism
· development in gathering people to events, interest groups, and church community.
· participating in our mission to the university, especially our partnership with RUF
· taking “Black History for a New Day” class to learn about the effects of racism on Madison/Wisconsin.
· assisting with crafting a church planting vision for Madison
Presbytery and Admin
· pursue Licensure & Ordination (if applicable)
· attend Presbytery meetings and participate in presbytery committees
· attend a conference/GA once per year
· assist with officer training at Resurrection
· development in raising funds and donor communication
· participate in Session meetings and learning to lead them effectively
· attend weekly staff meetings
· participate in general administration of Resurrection, and helping us refine our processes.
