Description
Redeemer Church, PCA, is a multi-ethnic community of Christians committed to glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ and proclaiming the Good News of His Kingdom in both word and deed to the Broadmoor and Broadmeadow neighborhoods, the city of Jackson, and to the world.
We are looking for a Director of Youth Ministry to come alongside our growing church in the following ways:
1. Relational Evangelism and Discipleship – The primary role of the Director of Youth Ministry will be to evangelize and disciple the youth of our church and community, pointing them to Jesus Christ through sharing God’s Word, building relationships, and developing Christian community within the youth group. This will involve pursuing and enfolding covenant youth, as well as youth from our community.
2. Vision and Program Development – Continue the work of developing a youth ministry vision in line with the vision and culture of Redeemer Church in cooperation with the Session and the Children & Youth Committee. Build programs and ministry structures that flow out of and support this vision. Programs will include but are not limited to:
a. Primary: Crossroads (Jr. High), Rooted (Sr. High), School Outreach, Retreats & Conferences, Community Building Fellowship Events.
b. Secondary: Missions/Community Engagement, Bible Studies (only because Large Groups have a Bible Study component)
3. Parent Engagement – Actively pursue relationships with parents and guardians to offer encouragement and support in their call to raise children in the Lord.
4. Program Administration – Provide administrative oversight to Youth Ministry through volunteer recruitment and delegation, budgeting, curriculum selection, publicity, database maintenance, and the development and implementation of policies necessary to ensure the safety, security, and spiritual growth of youth.
5. Leadership Development— Recruit, screen, train, and resource youth ministry volunteers. This oversight and care is to be ongoing, not merely initiatory.
Salary: $60K-$89K
Requirements
1. The Person: A man with Christ-like character who possesses a vibrant, growing relationship with Christ as evidenced in the fruit of the Spirit and repentance in his life.
2. Theologically Reformed: Personally committed to the system of theology laid out in Westminster Confession and Catechisms, in particular its teaching on the covenant inclusion of the children of believers.
3. Loves Youth: Has a passion for working with teenagers and a heart of wisdom to impress and apply the gospel appropriately to their lives.
4. Education and Experience: Seminary education/ordination not required. Youth ministry and/or other ministry leadership experience preferred.
5. Skills: Self-motivated, creative implementer of Redeemer's mission and vision. Able to translate vision into action. Desire and ability to work as part of a team (church staff/elders) as well as to build a team (volunteers & parents). Demonstrates ability to shepherd souls, build and administrate organizational structures, motivate people, and teach in a style age-appropriate to youth.
6. Multi-Ethnic Ministry Heart: Passion to work in a multi-ethnic, diverse environment and build ministry that intentionally includes youth and families from different racial and socio-economic cultures.
