Description


The Pastor of Youth & Worship is a full-time member of the church staff, responsible for the student ministry of the church and musical worship elements on Sunday morning. If worship isn’t a part of your gift-set please still consider applying, Alternative job description for a portion of the position will be discussed. This person should be a lover of God and people, a gatherer of those in the church and outside. Ideally this person will love being with teens in the school system (public, private, and home-school) taking time to have lunch, disciple, and connect. The student side of this job will involve a standard youth ministry approach but also include a more evangelistic/community engaged portion seeking to create an RUF-style connection with the local schools. 


Regarding the Worship portion of the job description, this person will be able to faithfully develop, plan and lead Sunday morning musical worship. Ideally this person will be able to play the guitar or piano (or both) to lead the team on Sunday mornings, which usually includes a bass player, guitar, keyboard, singer, and drummer (occasionally a violin, cello, or mandolin). This person will also be encouraged to participate in the New Song Conference of the Wisconsin Presbytery and be connected to the Worship Collective as he is able. 

Salary: $60K-$89K

Requirements


Relationships

  • Faithfully pursue students by investing time individually and in groups by going to extra-curricular events (plays, sports, community events, etc.)
  • Promote a loving, welcoming and fun community for growth and life in Jesus. 
  • Humbly engage students with the Gospel of grace and love.
  • Recruit and equip other leaders in the church to assist in youth and worship areas. 


Teaching

  • Participate as part of the teaching team for Student Ministries at Youth Group.
  • Lead small group discussions with youth.
  • Preach at G&P 4 times a year (unordained) or up to 12 times a year (ordained).
  • Informal teaching/coaching/counseling in one-to-ones as opportunities arise.


Administration

  • Oversee and plan gatherings for the youth.
  • Provide good and helpful communication with students and families.
  • Oversee and schedule worship volunteers through Planning Center.
  • Keep charts and arrangements in Planning Center for each song. 
  • Assist in planning worship services and special services with the Lead Pastor.


Miscellaneous

  • Participate in weekly staff meeting with the staff team.
  • Collaborate with the Children’s Ministry Director ensuring cohesion through the ages.
  • Perform other ministry duties assigned by G&P leadership based on the needs of the church and the person’s unique gifts and experience.
  • Meet regularly with the Lead Pastor for encouragement, training and development.
