Description
Over the years, the Lord has blessed Redeemer to grow into a church that 1000+ people call home. That growth also includes kids. We can serve over 200 kids per Sunday between our nursery, children’s worship, and Sunday school ministries.
Job Summary:
This position provides leadership and oversight for the Redeemer Kids ministry (birth through 5th grade) and their families. This role leads the ministry ensuring it aligns with Redeemer’s mission and values.
Redeemer Kids Ministry Oversight (90%):
- Execute Redeemer Kids vision and curriculum scope and sequences for formation of children birth through 5th grade in line with the larger Formation Ministry vision and philosophy of ministry.
- Oversee the Nursery/Childcare Coordinator and the Redeemer Kids Coordinator.
- Oversee family discipleship efforts in concert with the Formation Team including Discovering Redeemer for Kids and Students/communicant process, Kids Club, Easter Egg Hunt, and other family ministry events.
- Send monthly parent communication, sharing curriculum information and ways parents can follow up and disciple their children at home.
- Assist the Nursery/Childcare Coordinator and the Redeemer Kids Coordinator with volunteer recruitment, ensuring each classroom space has the recommended number of volunteers.
- Train Redeemer Kids volunteers and staff on relevant safe child policies, curriculum, and teaching techniques.
- Ensure Redeemer Kids classrooms provide support and accommodations for children and families impacted by disability.
- Work with the Director of Operations to ensure that all safe child policies are up to date and enforced.
- Work with the Redeemer staff to ensure the Redeemer Kids ministry is well integrated with our other ministries. Oversee childcare requests from other ministries, delegating accordingly.
- Be available to teach, oversee, and build relationships with volunteers, kids, and parents during the Sunday School hour and one service each Sunday.
- Ensure classroom spaces and supplies are organized, welcoming, and safe for children.
- Provide administrative oversight, assist the Nursery/Childcare Coordinator, and lead the Preschool classroom on Wednesday morning childcare, teaching a lesson and leading the childcare team in this space during the school year.
Formation Team (10%):
- Collaborate with the Director of Groups & Formation and Formation team as needed.
- Collaborate with the Co-Directors of Redeemer Students for Discovering Redeemer for Kids and other ministry initiatives as needed.
Expected Outcomes for Redeemer:
- Redeemer Kids are connected to one another and to Jesus and Redeemer parents are supported in engaging their children in their faith.
Regular Commitments:
- Attend all staff meetings
- Regular meetings with RK Coordinator and Nursery & Childcare Coordinator individually and monthly as a team.
- One-on-One meetings with the Director of Groups & Formation
- This role has Sunday morning responsibilities
