Description


The Assistant Pastor serves Christ Church PCA through hands-on

pastoral ministry focused on the spiritual development of

members. He will engage in pastoral visitation, teaching,

counseling, and discipleship while providing ministerial oversight

of youth and children's ministries. This is a shepherding role

emphasizing direct care for people.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Congregational Visitation and Fellowship

The Assistant Pastor will develop and carry out a plan for

visitation of the entire congregation with special attention to

prospective members and those with particular needs.

1• Conduct regular pastoral visits to members and families in

their homes

• Give priority attention to prospective members and those

exploring church membership

• Visit and care for those with particular needs (illness,

hospitalization, crisis, bereavement)

• Help members know one another and develop supportive

relationships

• Foster congregational fellowship through relational ministry

and presence

2. Pastoral Counseling

The Assistant Pastor will provide biblical counsel to members

facing spiritual, relational, and life challenges.

• Offer pastoral counseling as needs arise among members

• Provide biblical guidance for marriage, family, and personal

struggles

• Walk alongside members in times of crisis and difficulty

• Foster spiritual development through one-on-one pastoral

care

3. Teaching Ministry

The Assistant Pastor will teach the Word of God in various

settings to build up the body of Christ.

• Preach in Sunday morning worship approximately every 7th

week and as opportunities arise

• Teach in Sunday school or other teaching venues as

opportunities arise

• Teach classes for new members and church officers

• Emphasize sound doctrine that leads to godliness

4. Discipleship and Evangelism

2The Assistant Pastor will help members grow in Christian

understanding and practice while promoting gospel witness.

• Provide opportunities for individuals and groups to grow in

the faith

• Foster spiritual development through teaching and pastoral

care

• Encourage Christ Church PCA in the vision for outreach and

evangelism

• Equip congregation members to engage in personal

evangelism

• Provide teaching on biblical evangelism and gospel clarity

• Partner with mission teams and outreach leaders

5. Youth and Children's Ministry

The Assistant Pastor will provide ministerial oversight of youth

and children's ministries.

• Provide ministerial leadership of youth ministry (middle and

high school), children's ministry staff and volunteers

• Direct the teaching ministry for youth (youth group, Sunday

school, Bible studies)

• Equipping volunteers to execute ministry

• Equip parents in the discipleship of their youth

SUPPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the Senior Pastor in his ministry

• Assist in overall shepherding of the congregation

• Lead worship and provide pastoral care consistent with

Christ Church PCA's vision

• Participate broadly in the life and ministry of Christ Church

PCA

• Oversee new member assimilation and visitor follow-up

3• Values and practices biblical hospitality as an expression of

covenant community and gospel witness, leading the

congregation to do the same.

Requirements


ECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS

Educational

• M.Div. or equivalent

Ordination

• Ordained or ordainable in the PCA

Character

• Possess the character and qualities of an elder as outlined in

1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and the PCA Book of Church Order

Theological

• Confessionally Reformed and committed to the Westminster

Standards

• Committed to the ordinary means of grace

• Biblical understanding of the gospel, conversion, and

discipleship

Ministry Strengths and Experience

• Demonstrates a shepherding heart and relationally warm

character

• Gifted in teaching, with ability to communicate Scripture

clearly

• Equipped for pastoral counseling and care

• Committed to pastoral visitation as a core ministry practice

• Passion for evangelism and equipping others for gospel

witness

4• Experience with family ministry

• Heart for discipleship and spiritual formation
