Mercy's Pastor of Connection and care will be responsible for the healthy growth of connection and care ministry, focusing on welcome & assimilation, youth, and community groups. He will serve full-time as a PCA ordained or ordainable minister, or unordained full-time director. The proposed salary package is commensurate with experience.

Requirements


PASTOR OF CONNECTION & CARE 

Mercy’s Director of Connection & Care will be a fellow vine-worker, helping with one another, gospel-centered ministry. He will come alongside those in need through specific areas of oversight and organic opportunities. He will serve full-time as a PCA-ordained or ordainable minister (Assistant Pastor). Those seeking a church-planting residency, a call to the mission field, or other future ministry calls are also encouraged to apply. The proposed salary package will be commensurate with experience. 


QUALIFICATIONS

1. A committed follower of Jesus Christ who demonstrates spiritual maturity and a growing personal relationship with our Savior.

2. A church leader, preferably with at least 2 years of ministry experience.

3. Proven leadership experience in worship services that are musically inspiring, Scripture-filled, gospel-centered, mission-focused, engaging, and joyful.

4. Strong interpersonal and administrative skills to facilitate church ministry.

5. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

6. A self-motivated learner committed to personal and professional development.

7. A desire to be a proven team player, encouraged by leaders and collaborative in ministry.


1. Oversee Welcome and Assimilation Process.

a. Develop a welcome/assimilation team approved by the session to help oversee the assimilation process, providing strategic planning, communication, and recruiting and training volunteers to support the welcome process. See Mercy ministry plan for more information on ministry teams.

b. Evaluate and develop a plan for current welcome processes, including greeters/ushers, refreshments, and communion to provide structure, job descriptions and communication.

c. Research strategies from resources (books, other churches, etc.) that are doing hospitality well and implement them in a way that suits Mercy’s ministry context and culture. This includes developing a welcome area on Sunday mornings.

d. Oversee a process to communicate with visitors, collaborating with staff on

bulletin/order of worship, attendance, printed materials, and prayer marker/weekly email.


2. Oversee Youth Ministry.

a. Recruit, train and disciple youth volunteer leadership.

b. Coordinate a youth group that aligns with Mercy’s shepherding philosophy, providing shepherding training and support for group leaders.

c. Develop a focused senior high and junior high ministry, providing leadership opportunities to older students.

d. Ensure proper planning and execution of youth events, being present at events, teaching when needed, and meeting regularly with youth leadership.

e. Train and equip parents to create a culture of family discipleship.

f. Work with other ministry leaders to integrate youth into the life of the church.


3. Oversee Adult Community Groups including Mercy’s shepherding plan:

a. Coordinate discipleship and shepherding for community groups through community group leaders.

b. Through a ministry of presence with community group leaders, encourage healthy group dynamics through evaluation and coaching.

c. Bring elders and community group leaders together for prayer and training.

d. Coordinate the formation of new groups; recruitment of new community group leaders.

e. Coach leaders in hospitality and assimilation of new members.

4. Additional responsibilities:

a. Participate in the liturgy rotation of the worship service.

b. Preach 2-4 Sundays a year.

c. Attend staff meetings, fostering collaboration across ministries

d. Lead or attend a Mercy community group

e. Attend and participate in session meetings
