Description

The Summit Church is a gospel-centered church in St. Charles County, Missouri seeking a Lead Pastor to shepherd our congregation and carry our mission forward.

We are a 27-year-old church of about 150, in a season of intentional growth and renewal, led by a committed elder team that takes seriously both the Great Commission and the health of our local community. You will work closely with that team in a collaborative, elder-led structure where the pastor leads alongside others rather than alone.

We are looking for someone who loves preaching the Word, makes and multiplies disciples, and builds up leaders around them.

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Preach expositionally and love helping people understand and live the gospel
  • Have a heart for mission and reaching people far from God
  • Are gifted at developing leaders and building healthy teams
  • Meet the biblical qualifications for an elder

Salary: >=$90K

Requirements

Ministry & Preaching Demonstrated ability to preach and teach biblically sound, Spirit-led sermons in a weekly context. Experience developing sermon series and discipleship curricula, particularly around Gospel fluency and disciple-making. Comfortable leading interactive, participatory learning environments rather than purely lecture-based settings.

Leadership & Vision Proven experience developing leaders at multiple levels including staff, elders, deacons, and volunteers, with a working understanding of Ephesians 4 ministry equipping. Ability to collaborate with a plurality of elders in setting vision and strategic direction rather than operating as a solo decision-maker. Experience building and sustaining healthy church culture.

Pastoral Care Systems Experience building and overseeing pastoral care structures so that counseling, crisis support, and life-event ministry (weddings, funerals, baptisms) happen effectively through a team rather than solely through the pastor. Track record of developing systems rather than centralizing care.

Discipleship & Outreach Experience leading or resourcing missional engagement both locally and globally. Ability to cast vision for a congregation living on mission in daily life, not just through programs.

Administrative & Financial Oversight Familiarity with church budget processes, staff management, and policy governance in partnership with an elder board or equivalent governing body. Comfortable maintaining clear, consistent communication with a congregation.

Communication Strong written and verbal communicator across multiple contexts including preaching, teaching, staff leadership, and congregational updates.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Theology, Divinity, or related field required; M.Div. or equivalent preferred. Must meet biblical elder qualifications (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1) and hold or be eligible for elder status. Full agreement with The Summit's statement of faith and core values required.

Personal Characteristics Spiritual maturity evident in daily life. Demonstrated integrity, humility, and accountability. Relational warmth across diverse ages and backgrounds. Servant-leader orientation.
