Position Overview

Old Cutler Presbyterian Church (OCPC) is seeking a skilled and spiritually grounded Choir Director to lead and develop our established choral ministry. The choir is currently 35+ members strong, highly engaged, and enthusiastic.

This individual will work closely with the Music Director to cultivate a choir that supports congregational worship with musical excellence, theological depth, and a spirit of service.

This role is ideal for a musician who is passionate about choral music and committed to Christian ministry within a Reformed theological context.

 

Key Responsibilities

•             Lead weekly choir rehearsals (Wednesday evenings)

•             Conduct the choir during Sunday morning services

•             Select and prepare choral repertoire in collaboration with the Music Director

•             Develop vocal quality, blend, and musicality within the ensemble

•             Foster a positive, engaging, and spiritually meaningful rehearsal environment

•             Lead preparation for the church’s annual Christmas concert (primary seasonal event)

•             Collaborate with instrumentalists and worship band as needed

•             Maintain light coordination with the Music Director during summer months (no regular rehearsals)

 

Salary: $0-$29K

Requirements


Qualifications

•             Demonstrated experience directing choirs or vocal ensembles

•             Strong musicianship (conducting technique, rehearsal skills, vocal knowledge)

•             Familiarity with both traditional choral literature and modern worship styles

•             Ability to teach and communicate musical concepts clearly

•             Personal Christian faith and comfort serving within the theology of the Presbyterian Church of America

•             Alignment with the mission and values of OCPC

•             Strong interpersonal skills, leadership presence, and reliability
