Rocky Mountain Community Church (PCA) of Billings, Montana is seeking a full-time Executive Pastor. This position reports to the Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Rolf Meintjes. Purpose
The purpose of the Executive Pastor is to support the Senior Pastor and Session to accomplish the church’s mission and vision. The Executive Pastor is accountable for strategy leadership and execution; staff leadership, management and accountability; operations, financial and facilities management, and church planting leadership.

Essential Job Functions
Strategy Leadership and Execution: Facilitates the annual strategic planning process including evaluation of ministry performance; review of mission, vision, and core values; development of key objectives and tactics; and establishment of long-term goals. Leads and coordinates execution of strategic plan throughout the year. Establishes and maintains key ministry indicators (KMI) that provide the Senior Pastor, Session and church staff with ongoing visibility of the ministry effectiveness in all areas.
Staff Leadership, Management and Accountability: Leads and oversees the ministry staff and volunteers to establish ministry direction, plans and goals that effectively reach the church’s demographic, insuring the accomplishment of the overall mission and strategic plan. Sets effective performance standards and manages performance to achieve goals while fostering teamwork and job satisfaction. Ensures work processes and procedures are documented and followed. Accountable for all human resources activities including hiring, training, development, performance, compensation, and termination.
Operations, Financial and Facilities Management: Ensures the operational readiness of the church and alignment with strategic plan through leadership and oversight of budget planning, finances, and facilities management and maintenance. Reviews monthly expenses with the Treasurer, staff and ministry leaders to meet budget and financial goals. Champions the development of ministry infrastructure needed to support healthy, long-term growth of the church. Leads the church’s building programs including capital fund-raising campaigns, master planning, design and architecture, contractor selection, and construction.
Church Planting Leadership: Leads church planting efforts including development of a strategy, networking with other local church planting focused churches for funding and resource provision as well as identification, development, and leadership of lead church planters.
General Support: Provide pastoral support as needed for preaching, teaching, and other areas. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- A passion for the Gospel and evidence of a growing relationship with Christ.
- Evidence of the character qualities for church leaders as described in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
- A love for people of all ages and a clear sense of calling to vocational pastoral ministry.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a leader in a corporate business environment.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an area of business or management. Master’s work in Biblical studies is a plus.
- Strategic thinker able to develop strategies and plans to achieve the church’s mission and vision.
- Strong skills in the area of leading, developing and managing people to accomplish ministry goals and objectives.
- Highly organized and adept at balancing strategic and long-term needs with tactical and short-term priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
