Responsibilities

Pastoral Care

• Provide direct pastoral care for members and attenders, including some counseling
• Triage additional care through other people and programs of the church 
• Prepare couples for marriage and care for married couples
• Coordinate pastoral wedding arrangements for members

Lay Leadership Development

• Lead in the recruitment, vetting, and training of new church officers
• Serve as Clerk of the Session and primary liaison with all denominational and presbytery matters

Community Engagement

• Provide leadership and structure for community engagement that is focused on the Westside parish
• Network and establish key partnerships with local ministries
• Provide a clear path for Westside members to become meaningfully involved in community service opportunities

General Pastoral Duties

• Assist with pastoral duties in worship as needed, including welcome, administering the sacraments and prayer
• Assist with administrative and organizational pastoral needs as they arise
• Preach and teach occasionally

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Ordained or immediately ordainable in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA)
• Personal characteristics consistent with Christian maturity
• Strong pastoral instincts and natural disposition to provide care for people
• Minimum of three years’ ministry experience
• Proven track record of fruitful engagement in evangelism and discipleship 
• Deep personal desire to unite people across divisions of race, class and culture with the power of the Gospel.
• Strong organizational skills
• Commitment to help foster a positive team culture among fellow staff members

Preferred Qualifications 

• Master of Divinity degree
• Experience in a diverse church setting (e.g., race, socio-economics, age, etc.)
• Able to lead Worship vocally and instrumentally
• Experience and interest in global missions
• Experience and interest in church planting
• Experience with a pastoral internship program
