FirstLight Ministries is a faith-based, non-profit that supports people in living out biblical sexuality. The ministry provides church-based education regarding sexual issues and facilitates several support groups throughout the St. Louis region. FirstLight operates within a traditional, Christian understanding of sexual ethics.
FirstLight is seeking someone experienced in one-on-one discipleship for the position of Men’s Community Coordinator.
The Men’s Community Coordinator must be in full agreement with FirstLight’s statement of faith and positions regarding sexual ethics. The Men’s Community Coordinator must also understand the importance of confidentiality and be able to work with confidential information professionally.
Salary: $30K-$59K
Requirements
Position Qualifications
• Ability to articulate and live out the Gospel of grace
• Ability to Integrate psychological principles with truths of Scripture
• Bachelor’s degree required, Master of Divinity preferred
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience with 1-on-1 discipleship model
• Minimum 2-3 years of volunteer management experience
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a recovery fellowship or other intentional living community strongly preferred.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills with strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative environment.
• Ability to effectively research, analyze and solve problems.
• Highly focused and self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, setting and adjusting priorities as needed for the organization’s changing requirements.
• A willingness to learn.
Primary Responsibilities
The Men’s Community Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
• Fostering a confidential and spiritually nurturing men’s community where men are encouraged to grow in their relationship with Christ and the Church..
• Expanding and deepening the Men’s Community through intake interviews, regular community member contact, check-in meetings, annual Men’s Community events, and training individual mentors.
○ Conducting at least 5 intake interviews per week for prospective community members
○ Being available to each man in the community to ensure proper care and support is being provided through the community
○ Recruiting, training, supporting and equipping point men, moderators, and event volunteers
○ Identifying and recommending community members who are ready for a Stage Group
Check-In Meetings
○ Recruiting and training check-in meeting moderators for a total of at least 30 moderators
○ Coordinating a minimum of 20 weekly (60-minute) check-in meetings
○ Identifying and reserving locations for in-person check-in meetings, at least 2 per week
○ Writing or curating additional articles for the check-in readings
○ Maintaining the check-in meeting slides
Men’s Community Events
○ A minimum of 3 annual events, to include recruiting volunteers and organizing all the details related to the events.
Point Man Initiative
○ Developing the Point Man Initiative, a one-on-one discipleship model of making disciples who can make other disciple-makers
○ Co-facilitating with the Men’s Director a weekly 2-hour development group for testing and developing a discipleship model
○ Organizing a monthly training and support dinner for Point Men
○ Developing in coordination with the Men’s Director a certification process for Point Men
○ Recruiting, training and recommending (12) Point Men to be certified by Men’s director
