REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

• Meets the qualifications for an elder as set forth in I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9 
• Exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy family life 
• Is able to be part of a leadership team that demonstrates trust in God and His Word, walks humbly, and understands how to protect the flock 
• Demonstrates spiritual gifts which support a strong relational ministry and has the ability to develop in other people an understanding and application of Scripture 
• Is an energetic, committed, growing Christian who, as a member of Calvary Baptist Church, will support the statement of faith and the church constitution and policies 
• Rigorous and intentional Bible training and theological education 
• Demonstrates good interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills and has the ability to work effectively as a staff member 
• Is resourceful in leadership and program design, development, and implementation and has the ability to recruit, motivate, and mobilize leaders in these ministries  
• Must be a self-starter, able to anticipate needs without oversight, focus on the tasks at hand and efficient follow-through 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

• Has earned a seminary or college degree 
• A minimum of five years experience in church leadership and ministry 

EXPECTATIONS 

• The associate pastor will lead other leaders in the church to speak and live in such a way that the whole church is fruitful and effective in the furtherance of the gospel and the work of ministry 
• Maintain a disciplined life of worship, Bible reading, prayer, and giving 
• Serve as an active member of the church by attending services, life group, and church events 
• Work a minimum of 40 hours per week in formal ministry duties.   
• Meet regularly with the lead pastor for mutual accountability and to review current ministries 
• Serve as an active member of the elder council and other applicable leadership teams at Calvary 

RESPONSIBILITIES  

• The associate pastor’s schedule will include but is not limited to a mix of normal business hours at the church office, church services, evening meetings, and other meetings should the need arise 
• Equip members to serve and lead in current or new ministries 
• Participate in a life group or lead a life group as needed 
• Plan and contribute to the teaching of rotational courses offered during the Sunday School hour 
• Preach as called upon approximately six times per year 
• Assess community needs that our congregation can meet 
• Mobilize and equip the congregation to serve the community and share their faith 
• Reach and connect with young adults and new families for discipleship and growth 
• Assist the lead pastor in visitation and hospital visits 
• Welcoming visitors and creating ways for new guests and members to get involved in our local body and ministry 
• Perform premarital counseling and officiate at funerals and weddings as called upon 
• Provide oversight and equip leaders for ministry opportunities:  
• Youth Ministries and Senior Care 
• Youth/Adult Sunday School 
• Children’s Church/Nursery 
• AWANA, Mazama Bible Camp and other parachurch ministries
