New Life Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Yorktown, Indiana, is looking for a qualified individual to serve in a full-time position that would split time as music director and children’s ministry director. This person would oversee the Sunday morning music ministry as well as oversee the church’s discipleship of children ages K-6th grade. New Life is a church of about 200 people who are committed to rich corporate worship, strong bonds of fellowship, service to our community, discipleship under the authority of the Scriptures, and evangelism (particularly through missions and church planting). The church is located in Yorktown, a small community near Muncie, Indiana. The Muncie area is home to Ball State University and is an area that offers cultural and recreational activities, an affordable cost of living, and close proximity to both Indianapolis and Fort Wayne.

This position involves responsibilities to both music ministry and children's education.


Music ministry responsibilities:

As music director, the qualified person will plan the worship service each Sunday in conjunction with the preaching pastor, as well as oversee holiday services, such as Christmas, Good Friday and Easter. Cultivate a music ministry marked by technical proficiency, artistic quality and spiritual vitality, including a mix of hymns and newer songs. The candidate should be a strong, Gospel-centered believer with a passion to lead the local congregation in worshiping Jesus in spirit and truth, with reliance on the Presbyterian, reformed tradition. 

 

Children’s ministry responsibilities:

As director of children’s ministry, the qualified person will work under the oversight of the elders to oversee the teaching content in all aspects of children’s ministry, including Sunday school, children’s church, and midweek programs; recruit and oversee teachers and helpers for Sunday school and children’s church; work with the pastors, elders, and youth director in forming a comprehensive education program rooted in a reformed, covenantal perspective.
